You cant really negate a negative by giving alternatives... If i say a certain store is expensive then thats bullshit because i can also buy at another store? wtf?FlynT wrote:@Topic 1€=1$:
Bullshit! If i can get a game cheaper on steam, i buy it on steam if not i dont care and buy it somewhere else. You're not forced to buy a game on steam you can get any game in stores. I dont say that im happy with that 1€=1$ Bullshit but as a consumer i can decide what i do.

Steam is FREE, you're even debt if you pay too much for a game.
Valid point, though some people (like me) prefer dvds over a gimmehyourbandwidth type of platform.FlynT wrote: Steam has so much nice features no matter if you're a consumer or developer. You dont have to mess around with silly copy-protections, serials on paper or cd/dvd's
Please tell me how to disable it, im getting these annoing 'press thisandthat to access steam friends' messages all over.FlynT wrote: you can chat with your friends and if you dont have friends or at least no friends on steam you can turn off the friends network, you dont need a community profile on steam all of this are optional features.
There is more in life than ram. Steam uses cpu cycles even if you dont play any games (its minimal, but still). it uses even more when playing a game via steam. Steam uses bandwidth to download games, which i can use much better for streaming porn 24/7.FlynT wrote: And in times where 2gb or more ram is standard you can shit on a usage of 60mb, Firefox eats 100mb and up and no one cares.
Mess wrote:It's true, look at the whole idle servers / hats / weapon glitch enforcement Valve implemented in TF2... Steam is letting them keep an eye on their players, and then letting them enforce the EULAs better than any other system.

Yes, steam usually doesnt really hurt it terms of percentages (though low-performance platforms will likely suffer lots more), but does that really mean you should allow any crap that requires low amounts of resources, even if you dont really use the crap?
zombie@computer wrote:Oh, and if noone's forcing me to use steam, please explain to me how to install games like hl2 and episodes etc. without steam?

Dont get me wrong on this, i mean those guys who cry about the 1€=1$ situation on steam. Normally people who are not located in the US (like me). Ok its by far not fair what they do, but for me it seems that they aren't able to go out and buy it somewhere else. And here in Germany you can get a game on steam for 49,99€ and in stores you pay 29€ or 39€. Its ok to blame Valve for their pricing on Steam but some of them act like they have no other options.zombie@computer wrote:Linux is free. Openoffice is free. I must love all freeware programs! OMG! No of course not! You can hate and love whatever you likezombie@computer wrote:Valid point, though some people (like me) prefer dvds over a gimmehyourbandwidth type of platform.
Same as abovezombie@computer wrote:Please tell me how to disable it, im getting these annoing 'press thisandthat to access steam friends' messages all over.
The only way i know is the way that Pain describes. A friend of mine didnt use the friends network and he never get flamed by Steam to enable it to do something. Maybe theres a checkbox to disable all notifications on steam or somethings else like that. But i understand your opinion i also hate notes for stuff that i dont use or like.zombie@computer wrote:There is more in life than ram. I dont mess with you on that point you're by far more experienced on thatzombie@computer wrote:Oh, and if noone's forcing me to use steam, please explain to me how to install games like hl2 and episodes etc. without steam?
Ok bad sentence, on legal way you didnt have a choice. My bad
And again i dont attack anyone if he hates steam, everyone can decide what he likes and what not. Its only my opinion, i like discussions like that you have the one side who comes up with grounded facts and the other side who comes up with grounded facts. But the bad on this is, that we cant do that much I use in Steam nearly every function but if theres a chance for a lite-version im a supporter. Just to clear that out... again
