City17: Episode One January Update

The team behind City 17: Episode One have kick-started their mod development after overcoming a Valve-induced hiatus and are showcasing their latest work in a January Update. Today they are showing off a few of their new shaders, including God Rays, Noise, Vignetting, Unsharp Mask and Chromatic Aberration.

The team are also need of an animator.

So basically the game will look more like L4D? *whistle*

I'm sure I'm not the only one looking forward to this more for the modding potential than the actual game.

that looks pretty cool, buuut... still no gameplay
all the prettiness doesn't mean jack shit if the gameplay will just be generic HL2 stuff

so please tell me if you have something special planned for that :)

that graphics coding sure has paid off. The god rays look incredible! Im looking forward to this release to play it. :)

There are a number of reasons we haven't shown off much gameplay yet! But oh yes, we do have quite a few things planned. Pacing, overall gameplay flow, and "not feeling like another corridor shooter" has been a huge design need and goal. With that we never present the same type of gameplay to the player the same way.

We've been working hard on perfecting what we can deliver in terms of gameplay, and the content provided by Valve in the best way we can. We also like to implore a lot of "re-use" of space. So maps are going to be pretty long and hopefully never play out the same way twice.
