Counter Strike: Global Offensive Info Incoming

Postby ad_hominem on Fri Aug 12, 2011 8:08 am

It looks like we're about to find out what exactly the Counter Strike players that were invited to Valve recently actually saw. Rock, Paper, Shotgun are reporting that we can expect to hear more about a mysterious new Counter Strike game in the next 24 hours.

A thread on the Steam forums seems to confirm that rumours about a new Counter-Strike game – Counter-Strike: Global Offensive – are true, with commenter “Cliffe” (who is Valve designer chap Jess Cliffe) saying “Global Offensive”. There have been a bunch of other references to it, on Twitter and so forth.

And update on the ESEA Facebook page reads “Counter-Strike: Global Offensive… More info in the morning.” So it looks like we can expect something later today.

We'll have to wait for more information, but I'll try to update this news post when we hear anything.

[Update] The game now has an official page on the Steam store, giving a few more details.

And, thanks to MaK, the official trailer:

Let's hope it's more like CS 1.6 and less like CS:S!

Valve got the best opportunity in the world right now, hope they got their minds on the ground...

But as may cs 1.6 and css pros has lately been visiting the head office and that a roumur speak about one cometetive mode and one casual mode, I can only be thirlled to max :D

hmm, you know.. I don't know allot about CS and such

but I play allot of competitive l4d2, on modded servers and such, and I can tell you that Valve is very slow with balancing items and weapons, and tweaking the maps for balance

if the new CS would get the same slow support on the competitive side of things.. I don't have good faith in it
of course that dev team might be better that's working on on-going support, because the l4d2 dev team plays casual them self and doesn't realize what the competitive community needs

so I hope for the CS fans that I'm very wrong
