Some of them actually got smaller. Not by a lot, but kinda weird.

That may also be where Valve edited the maps slightly to prevent exploits and such at the same time.

I noticed this too. I think this is more for optimization than anything else would be my guess. It's like a LOD except on shadows.

what do you mean you "managed" to decompile it? is the normal decompile tool (i use vmex) not working with new maps?

Yea, doesn't work so I ended up using bspsource under the "Portal2" profile
