Steam GreenLight Announced

It appears Valve wishes for the community to get involved in the approval process for games distributed on Steam:

Steam Greenlight is a new system that enlists the community's help in picking some of the next games to be released on Steam. Developers post information, screenshots, and videos for their game and seek a critical mass of community support in order to get selected for distribution.

Sounds cool. Hopefully it gets some good and obscure indie games onto Steam. I wish they'd have something like this for Source engine mods.

Who would think they would stop here? In my few years knowing Valve games and their engine, I have found out that they get bored if they are not constantly making something new.

Cool that they are getting something like this though. They always find some way of getting some new feature like this into steam.

Nice, looks like it'll give more indie games a chance to get on Steam. Also, didn't Valve say that they wouldn't continue the episodic format?

No, they said after they finish the episodes they would probably never use the format again.

I really wish they did it first for Source engine mods, because I don't think there will be many mods coming out anytime soon or at least new ones started.

I wonder how this will handle patches, because valve are really slow on uploading patches for mods, so will this allow the user who made it to upload patches directly without interference with valve?

All updates have to be approved by Valve before going live on Steam.
