Notebook Dot Pitch Question

Postby Mr-Jigsaw on Wed Feb 13, 2008 12:17 am

Seeing as how some notebook displays are readily capable of displaying WUXGA, I was wondering about the practicality of having such a high resolution on a laptop. Considering that desktop monitors only draw near to 1920 x 1200 at sizes of 24 inches or more, the disparity between 24in. and 17in. seems rather large. Not to mention that you can even get WUXGA on 15.4in. notebooks now. Of course, you sit closer to a notebook screen than a desktop monitor but still; is WUXGA worth it on a notebook for graphic design, light gaming, and general use? I understand that to play at the native resolution, one would need a reasonably powerful graphics card, but games are not the primary concern. If WUXGA is not ideal, what resolution would be best for a 17in. or 15.4in. notebook?
