Oh My God I Posted Exactly Same Topic Today... just 6 threads below... come on people...

I didn't found any useful solution (except one, but it's not what I needed...) so it is not working properly in EP2 engine. If You want it working, switch to the old one.

Okay, I worked it out.
I've never mapped for CSS, but it seems that engine automatically removes point_viewcontrol when it checks if this entity is parented, so You can't just 'parent' viewcontrol by key, You need to do it by Output.

I'll upload example for You:
css_vc.zip
point_viewcontrol entity
(17.25 KiB) Downloaded 46 times

On this map, spawn and use the grey button, it will enable point_viewcontrol and after 1 second will fire 'setparent' output to parent with train (this block up there) to see what i'm talking about.

I really need this to work for my portal map. would you be able to parent one to a bone on an animating model in portal for me? just so I know it works or something? The ending sequence to my map is very dependent on this working.

i got problem with 'setparrentattachmentmaintainoffset', beceause it does the same thing I mentioned in there, but normal 'setparentattachment' is doing the right thing

Example if You need:
portal_vc.zip
(15.22 KiB) Downloaded 25 times

(camera parents to combine soldier's eyes attach point)

Also it seems that this entity is a bit messed up, i tried to create 2 same point_viewcontrols, and the second one just didn't want to work for no reason :F

Ok so like , I tried it . but failed . So your map works fine but when i try and set it up with my model i get this error

"
ERROR: Tried to SetParentAttachment for entity point_viewcontrol (viewcontrol), but it has no attachment named Bone01.

"

which is weird because that the only bone it has. (see picture below)

So obviously there is something fishy about this. I bet I'm not including something in the qc file but damn I'm stumped.

you need to speifically include an attachment into the model don't you, you cnat just attach to any bone however you choose?
