Battle 33 - Theme poll

Postby 904 on Fri Feb 27, 2009 8:15 pm

I've gone back to page 70 of the suggestions thread and recorded most of the suggestions. I want to get a feeling for what the next battle(s) should be themed like.
Here's an attempt to categorize them, with the suggestions from the thread that loosely fit the category in parenthesis.

Voted for abandoned, because I love the different atmospheres you can create from that theme.

I think that abandoned should be a sub-theme of post-destruction.

After all, if a bomb destroys a city, it's abandoned :P

That's some serious flawed logic right there... Things can become abandoned through reasons other than destruction - the whole idea of a theme like that would be to create your own interpretation. You can't just take one example and extend it to the entire subject. It's like saying the theme of Death should be a sub-theme to Gun Crime - because is someone gets shot they die.

I think there's something new to be done for the first option, as long as the topic is narrowed down. I think a simple "End of the World" theme would be interesting,a s it may include the others, but would allow for some rather interesting scenes.

Wet is also interesting.

Crap, I meant to add a 'psychological' with room 101 in it. Don't worry, it's still on the radar.

Hmm, I like this, letting us users decide the next theme. Is this something you're going to start with on a regular basis, or is it an one time offer because of the poor participation in the previous battle?

Anyways, I voted destruction, because... oh what can I say, I like to destroy things.

Yeah, it has somewhat to do with the last battle. And with the fact that the suggestions thread by now has so many suggestions, it's hard to determine what is really on everyone's wishlist. So this poll is two-fold: first to determine what to do next, but also in the future. It might be a recurring thing, but I'll have to deliberate that with Jest@.

They all sound cool, but I feel like going with wet theme. It tells you directly what you have to add in the map but gives a lot of freedom of what to create aswell. I wouldn't like to see abandoned, destruction or sci-fi themes, I've seen enough of this.
