Does lopers need a refresh?

Postby Blink on Sun May 17, 2009 12:11 am

We're known too change lopers now and again, but I wanted to test the water and see what people thought. Would you be against a change to the look of the site?

Anything I did would be to improve the experience (like widening the site a bit more) but do you think it would be necessary? Is the current site design a bit tired?

Opinions please :-)

I like how the site is now, but that's not saying i wouldn't mind a new design.

i'd say leave as is, unless something is specifically broken that you want to fix.

Well, the thing I like most on this forum is how clean and orderly it looks. I really like the white and how neatly the posts fit together. If we were to change the site's look, I would suggest just changing blank background to a floating image of something like stripes to get more individuality. Two useful tips to Web-page designers is to use bold, solid colors and simple geometry elements on the over-all 2D view. (Example: If there were stripes, they should be thick and bold colors.) Perhaps we could change the head banner?

I say there's no harm in changing it! I tend to update sites once every year with a fresh new look, just for fun!

Purhaps you could make it more "personal", increase the need/want of an account. Purhaps you could make a list for Most Viewed Topics for each user, and a list for topics that the user wishes to follow so he can easily acces it without the need to go through the forums->category->topic method.

Things like that makes it fun to go check whats new every now and then.

I love it the way it is now. Maybe we could add a UE3 section though (I know this has been discussed).

Also a suggestion is to have the banner be updated to a screenshot from the Map Spotlight, I think that would be cool.

Probably a new banner, but other than that leave it as it is.

Is the current site design a bit tired? No, not in my opinion. Like Miede said, unless there's something you really need to fix, leave it as it is.

I love the site but I have faith that you would put out something equally as good or even better than this one. And if you don't, we could just vote it off. :)

Site's lookin' pretty good as it is, I wouldn't mess with it unless you have plans for more functionality of some kind.
