Speed Challenge 20 - Odor

Postby RawMeat3000 on Sat Jun 13, 2009 7:26 am

It's that time again. Get your modelling programs fired up and ready for another speed challenge.
This theme was picked from the one and only new post in the suggestion thread, it was spelled wrong though, "odour". That's just silly. :P

Anywho, all the usual rules apply, final images created in 2 hours, post render wireframe, time spent, and triangle counts in this thread.

Also there is a polygon limit of 1,000,000,000, but I think you guys will manage somehow.

Deadline is Monday morning GMT, or Sunday night PST. Which is the 15th and 14th respectively. For more time zones use this handy dandy website.

Good luck, and Godspeed!

Excellent question! It's Monday morning GMT, or Sunday night PST. Which is the 15th and 14th respectively.

I edited the OP to include that.

Odor is the primitive, disgusting way of destroying the English language. It is odour in BE. So both is fine :-P

I just don't think colour, odour, etc need the extra letter. It serves no purpose other than making people write that much slower. It does have a certain finesse though, I'll admit.

We pretty much have our own dialects now. As for the polly limit, why put it so high, raw? Can't we just do away with it completely? Or have seperate speed and poly challenges?

Anyway, I can't think of anything to model for odor, odour, or any other spellings of that word you can think of.

Dialect doesn't come into it, I have a different dialect to someone who might live 10-20 miles away from me, I have a different dialect from someone in Birmingham, or in Newcastle and they are in the same country. Has nothing to do with dialect.

LET'S ALL JUST AGREE TO DISAGREE (AND AGREE THAT ENGLISH ENGLISH IS THE RIGHT WAY, GOD BLESS THE QUEEN) AND GET ON WITH THIS SPEED CHALLENGE ABOUT ODOUR.

I speak a British/Am. hybrid, mostly because half my life I spent learning British English, and the other, American. :? I prefer British english though, I just love the accent.

Anyways, I'll see wht I can do for this one.
