Good idea. Its rather cumbersome trying to find decent maps on FPS.

This would be awesome. FPS is the only site I know of with ratings and I don't have much faith in them at all.

I'd trust ratings from here alot more. And if people actually have to fill out some blanks to rate them it would eliminate lame spam votes.

It would also be a great help to mappers.

I think it's a good idea to a create a sub-forum for spotlights as a lot of people that visit this site go straight to the forums thus completely missing the current spotlight.

I don't know about a "great maps" sticky, but i think a rated maps section would compliment the site perfectly. Like the same style voting as the portfolios, but maybe more categories (gameplay, visual, content, ect.)

I'm a HUGE fan of the portfolio section, so I'm stoked for this idea too.

That already exists.

But any update about this topic specifically? Or is it a no go?

Stellar idea! Would definitely showcase the high talent this site produces.

One idea: If someone votes on a map and a few weeks later the creator changes or adds to the map, flag it and allow people to update their votes. Then if a poor map was posted and completely overhauled, the score could be updated to reflect it.

Might even encourage me to make a map!

This is exciting news. I was under the impression this wasn't going ahead.

Agreed, and FPSbanana as an idea isn't horrible but the rating system is currently broken. The no minimum requirement of ratings makes it so that a horrible map that gets a 10 in ranking by one of the authors friends will be on the top of the ratings even though only 1 person voted for it. A 5 person requirement will make it so that at least 5 interlopers members would be required to vote on the map.

you know there is a 4 vote requirement on FPSB?
i dont get an Expert status on my maps before over 4 people have voted (and an average on 9.1 to 10).
what i hate about map rates on FPSB is that you see a shitload of does "zomfg kewl 10/10" rates when the map deserves a 3.5/10 or something..

if you check my assessments on FPSB you'll see that most maps i rate has a wall of text.
