DMC 5 - Pedestrian Bridges

Postby RawMeat3000 on Fri Jul 17, 2009 9:49 pm

For the next not quite daily modelling challenge, I invite you to create a bidge. But not just any bridge, the kind that people are meant to walk or cycle on. No automobiles allowed.

And as long as it's something you haven't already made, you're cleared to enter.

But it's not really a challenge if there is no vote/winner/reward/point system like the map battles. I still will enter them once my computer is back from getting a new wireless card and I learn Modo.

Raw, I still think that these are good for practice, but you're not going to get any fair-sized group of people on them because there's so much variety. I still think we should return to the weekly challenges, with votes (maybe a custom banner for the winners?)

Can't we have both? :(

If I can get a good suggestion I'll start a new speed challenge, but these will never end. Although as the venerable KILLA-KOW so pleasantly pointed out, they could use a new name. I'd enjoy some suggestions for that as well.

To some extend yes but it isn't as complete as 3ds max, maya or xsi when it comes to animation.

Surfa and Vcool both said that Valve uses Modo to model some things then exports it to Maya where they animate it.

So lets say I made a zombie in modo to replace the hl2 zombie. Could I rig it and animate it to do idle, attack, and running animations?

I wasn't so much saying they need a name change than a concept change. Everyday? Too much, fucking hell, soon the modelling forum will be awash with DMC blahblahblahblah with like 2-3 models in with no-one voting about which they prefer, in the end people will just stop looking at them all together.

Nah modo doesn't support the hl2 skeleton rig and therefore can't be used to animate for source. But you could easily create your geometry in modo then export to xsi/3ds/maya to animate.
