I already briefly talked to you on Steam about your mod, but look at that, turns out EVERYONE is having that texture problem. When you gave it to your "beta testers" was it an installer, or not? If it wasn't one, and now we have one, maybe it isn't setting things up right.

Anyways, your mod, from what I could play, minus the last map since it just crashes on me, it just seems, rushed, in the sense of story. You just sorta wake up and go at it? Are you playing as Gordon? A citizen? What? There's no character development, and you just randomly find a weapon and go out for kills. Nothing is explained to you at all, so you're left clueless as to what's going on. I understand you're going to the military soon, so you rushed this project out before you left, but even then, it doesn't seem like you had much of a story planned out anyways, since the map seemed "complete" or, as complete as they can be.

Many of the gameplay elements seemed odd, and random. There were also areas where it seemed like you had to go, ie the vent with the headcrab others have mentioned, but they were just details.

There's not much you can do, what's there is there, so, eh. Probably just better off as a mappack. But whatever.

Also, wtf is a Joutomaa?

Well as i said, im working alone and therefor making speech and story telling elements impossible. I just dont have time for making everything. Basicly in nutshell its story of Rebels making out from combine outpost Sector 19 and heading into white forest. I DID have all scenes and story parts written down, but executing them without voice acting was just poor result.. so i cut all lines out.

I did already fix all these graphical bugs you encounttered, so you dont need to worry about them.

Keep the feedback coming, the most important thing is: did you enjoy playing it, was it fun. etc..
you guys could name witch scene did you like most/least, it would really help in future.

ps. Joutomaa is finnish word witch is similar to Wasteland but wont have same purpose.

I liked it some..

The problem Is.

There's almost no point to it.

All the battles are random

The lighting Is boring and dull.

But I loved the part with the antlions.

Just because the mapping of that part was pretty cool.

Also way to short.

Hey,

I just played it and completed it.

I really enjoyed it to be honest. There are a few minor NIT PICKING things i thought could of been polished:

1) Skybox when you first go outside...i saw the edges. You could see it was a box
2) antlion guard keeped running away, scripted scenes could of made it more scary
3) started with no story and with a suit hmmm
4) the tv in the first room...maybe it was portable as there was no connection to the wall and it didn't turn off (this is NIT PICKING)
5) the citizens didn't speak when sitting down or standing up. I found out away of doing this and making custom sounds also (again nitpicking)
6) ended sudden when going to the lady calling.

I did however enjoy it. I thought it was a nice breathe of fresh air! :D. Well done!

I liked the small puzzles, Some fights were cool and well placed explosion barrels.

I think if you was to keep going your next sp maps would just get better and better!
Well done! DON'T STOP!

Fortunately I ran into no problems whatsoever when playing this.

Fun, nothing special, but I don't care, I like HL2 gameplay and you offered something new to play, and that's why I'm glad I ran across this.

Good job.

Just make sure you get some HDR in the second part, it will make everything look much nicer, and it's well-deserving of it since it's got the potential to look REAL pretty.

thanks for your toughs, those have been nice to read each time i get off from army and great if you liked it. Ill add HDR support if / when I continue this project, I could not do it earlier because Hl2 skyboxes saddly wont support HDR feature. Also there was problem with storytelling. (i had all the spoken lines and scripted scenes written up and ready, but lack of voice actors forced me to cut these)

Heya, so im working on the second chapter now. What would you think, if ill use Textaloud created speech for npc:s instead of real voice acting. It would speed up thing alot, heres sample for you.

To be honest, I'd rather play a mod with no voice acting at all rather than a mod with fake/bad voice acting.

yeah thats true also, there is however more realistic voices, only thing is.. they do lack emotion.

Would you have known this one was fake, if i didnt say anything?

ps. if doing voice for special combine character, it wont really matter is the voice real or artificial. it will get messed up in the process anyway so you cant see any diffrence.

I think it'll be fine for a Combine soldier if you apply some effects to it.

I played this and I really enjoyed it. You got me on the zombie rise from under the pallet !! :D

I didn't find anything bad about the navigation, maybe because I'm used to hl2 gameplay. Like some people above said, tv doesnt break, no backstory and the ending is kinda dull. The level design and gameplay were well thought. Good job, hope to see more from you!
