Superfetching too, but also individual apps (Photoshop is the primary example). I'm not saying jister needs 12 GB of RAM, I'm just saying that I love my 12 GB :D
You are right about adding more. Jister, listen to the man, he speaks the truth (I'm sure you already know that).

5890? No such card, and if there was, it wouldn't be shorter than your motherboard. Looks more like 2x HD4770 to me or some kind of non-reference HD5770.

I don't even think the best PC you can possibly build is much over 6K. Unless you start adding extras onto it like watercooling.

I couldn't imagine spending 8k for 20MHZ! But then again that was 20 years ago and the technology was pretty new. I'm sure in 20 years even the stuff in this wishlist will be obsolete. I was planning to use 3 5870's but poor AMD/ATI can't keep up with demand :S Just when they had a chance to make some ground back too :/

AMD/ATI have little to do with the supply of GPU chips. Their chips are made by TSMC, a third party foundry company, that has problems with 40nm yields. Word is that only around 50% of wafer area is usable in either full (top-end chip) or salvaged (chip with less SPs) form.

My Dell is still kicking it. It's only 4 years old but I had a nice GPU upgrade on my B-day (went from a 7900gs to a GTS 250). However I want to expand it further so I can eventually support DX11. I have a feeling that DX11 will be successful, unlike DX10. I've been thinking about getting the HD5750 or anything better.

The problem is, I have a crappy power supply thanks to Dell. It's only a 375 watt PSU who's 12v rail has 16 amperes. This thing wasn't even enough for my 7900GS which demands a 400 watt psu who's 12v rail has 18 amperes. The GTS 250 needs (I think) a 460 watt psu who's 12v rail has 24 amperes. Power supplies are tough to decide on because of all the controversy over them. I know that game rigs prefer a single 12v rail over multiple rails, but other than that, I don't know how to look for reliability. You guys have any recommendations?

I'm also going to replace my ram with something better. The ram I have is shitty proprietary stuff from Dell. I might wait for the prices to drop though (if that will even happen any time soon).

I need some advice about a possible new rig. At the moment I have a 3ghz Pentium 4, NVidia 7900GS, 2gb ram - which has served me well for the last few years, but is starting to show it's age.

I'm considering getting a new rig with a 2.6ghz dual core, Nvidia GTS 250, and 4gb ram. Basically this computer here http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showprodu ... 44&subcat=

It's cheap but all the technobabble means nothing to me, what I need to know is whether this would be a good machine to buy, or if not what alternatives would be better for a cheap but adequate rig.
