Interlopers Props

Postby mbombz on Tue Dec 08, 2009 4:28 pm

I felt like giving Interlopers in general some props. This place is populated by intelligent, creative, opinionated (rightly so), and helpful members. In addition, the site seems to be running smoothly for me lately. Everytime I consider launching a new site for gamers or artists I think to myself "why, we have Interlopers".

It takes a fair amount of work by admins on top of a great community to keep a resource like this going. I wanted to voice appreciation.

One of the first things I read here.

Coupled with the first thread I made, which I won't find, I'm sorta with 904. Especially with Wiggles comment on us being an elitist community.

Yeah interlopers doesn't deserve the praise it once did. It has really sub come to what I like to call internet-tardation basically it is being over run with stupid internet memes and people who thinks that you should respect "regulars" more than "new members" and think post count is more important than talent/intelligence. I mean we are only human and people have there bad days and just randomly lash out at people on the internet. But this community was built on respect for everyone unless they give reason otherwise. But it seems to me like the elitist attitude has gone too far. But that will most likely happen everywhere now. But yeah I don't think the community deservers the praise any more.

Every community has bad eggs. If you guys think you can maintain an idiot free community that is also completely open to the public and quite popular then you need to think again.

Although I agree lopers does have some questionable members, you only need to spend some time looking at the other HL2 sites and after reading a few utterly inane threads that are on offer and you'll realise it's not all bad here.

With regard to 904s thread, I've seen much worse elsewhere on a regular basis. It's no secret that in this day and age of level design and modding you can't release poor content and expect everyone here to butter you up. Sure, some members can go a tad far but what you do get is honest criticism most of the time. The fact that the poster of that thread was used to 100% positive comments from other communities says a lot more about their userbase than ours.

We have a small moderation team, so if you guys keep helping us out with the report tool then we can help guide the problem threads back on track.

The community is what you make it, blaming the 'interlopers community' when you're part of it doesn't help. Leading by example and following the correct channels of moderation is the way forward.

Also, thanks for pissing on the one tiny bit of positive feedback we do receive. Good one!
