It really sucks to get irradiated. There is really nothing to about it... But Pripyat isn't dangerous as long as you follow common sense.

What? How was I supposed to know about a nuclear disaster in Russia? History class hasn't even got past WWI, and that's my main source of historic info, I rarely check the news exept for time.

Plus it's "old" in terms of news, so the chances of me seeing it randomly are 0.00000000000000000021/128475.

heheh well grox, it's the biggest nuclear disaster in human history so far
and, chances of seeing it randomly is pretty big, I mean.. COD4 is based on that area, Stalker is based on that area, chances are pretty high you could find out about it.. like you did just now ;)

Both games you mentioned I do not play.

I hate Halo.

I hate COD.

I hate GTA.

I hate most shooters. Only real exeption is the HL series. Only got CS:S for content reasons.

I like Portal.

I like platformers.

I like N64 games because they were great games because they didn't have such good graphics to they had to cope with it and add more, less glitchy gameplay that at the time was outstanding.

Why do I hate them? I just do. Though most of it is the idiotic war between trolls and noobs about which one is better.
(mostly COD vrs. Halo)

I am incredibly surprised you had never heard of Chernobyl. I must have first heard about it when I was in grade school.

Back onto the real subject, those shots are really great, they can provide a fantastic reference!

Honestly after my first few shooters I gave up on the genre. STALKER never even showed up, hence no refrence.

Main games I played were old N64 games and then creative custom-content games like Incredible Contraptions, Spore , etc. My family also frowned upon shooter games which is why I never attached to one. Only after dad died did I really try shooters, and thanks to my childhood I don't like them to this day. (though honestly childhood was 5 years ago but still...)

Only two big ones are HL2 and Portal, and Portal isn't really a shooter just set up like one.

I guess with the information regarding his distaste of FPS's it's likely he never saw those trailers.

Still, it's a common told story in my area, and I live on the west coast of the US.

AGAIN

Get back on the subject, sorry to disrail

Sorry.

some of the pics are quite cool. I like the ferris wheel one, would be cool if somehow it still worked.

Wow, that's super neat, Blink.

When I look at these pictures, I get an eerie feeling. Like I'm super creeped out at how "dead" (empty) it looks.

Thanks for sharing.

wow this is great, just stumbled on this thread. hope you had fun; was there any construction going on there? i know a guy who's dad was involved in the design of the new 'sarcophagus'. i find it kind of unsettling that the remains of the fuel from that reactor will remain there forever, radiating away for the next 80,000 years or so, buried under concrete. that's quite the legacy to leave for the next 500 generations of people. apparently it is unclean-able.
