Static mesh align/drop to normal

Postby Vilham on Wed Dec 22, 2010 8:40 pm

This is for unreal. So ive been searching away wondering if there is a simple way of aligning a static mesh to the normal of the surface below it, any one know if this is possible?

I know for terrain you can just add a decolayer, but for other static meshes like cliffs I would quite like to be able to easily place plants and such, without having to rotate every single prop.

An answer to my own question in case anyone else has this issue:

http://udn.epicgames.com/Three/StaticMeshMode.html

It's worth noting before we finish here that ALT+S will work for placing static meshes outside of this mode but all you will get is the surface alignment, you won't get any of the rotation and scaling tweaks. But sometimes, you don't need them so it's useful.

Go forth and mesh!

Unfortunately this is only in the latest version of UDK and will not work in UT3.
