So when the SDK/authoring tools for GO come out, he can finish his map up in it and release a bomb ass map for GO when it's still new. More likely to get played that way.

lol, why?

If you put it on hold and CS-GO is released before it's finished noone will want to play it. It's like how Portal mapping died the instant Portal 2 was released.

It's different with this though. CSS will still have its player base like 1.6 still does.

Yeah but that's mainly becaues CS:GO is a dumbed down console version without the things that made CS, CS.
Marek ".PhP" Kadek is one of the players in seattle. This is what he wrote on Playzone.cz :
- this game is not going to replace CS 1.6, or CS:S, it is primary made for consoles, PC version is just kind of a "bonus"
- at the moment, the game looks more like HL2DM
- There is no recoil and there will never be. (because of the consoles)
- the game runs on L4D2 engine
- SourceTV is NOT a priority
- they are working on match making system
- new money system
- no kevlar (this should be fixed in the future)
- maps are simplyfied for XBOX style, less ways, most fights are close range
- Hidden Path (Valve only finances the game) is trying to make all weapons balanced.

When they say no recoil do they mean like DoD:S recoil where the gun moves up? Or do they mean just how CS:S is now where its in a boxed area for the recoil?

The trouble is, anybody who got invited to playtest is going to be a huuuge fanboi of CS 1.6, CS:S or both and their opinion of the new iteration will be heavily biased by that.

Seeing as the majority of veteran developers are fleeing back to the PC platform like rats from a sinking ship I'd find it a highly dubious proposition that Valve would suddenly choose to go overly console heavy on one of their most valuable PC IP's right now.

nub hit the nail on the head re: my earlier comment btw.

We know that Valve is very friendly to the developer community and has consistently shared its SDKs for their major releases. We also know that CS:GO is built on the L4D2 version of the source engine.

What we don’t know is if someone, either Hidden Path or Valve will make the SDK for CS:GO available to the community. This could be something that has already been worked out and is planned. Valve certainly realizes that the longevity of 1.6 and Source has been in large part due to the communities’ ability to create custom content.
The big question is whether this console and competitive focus means that custom content is not in the cards.

For those who would like to get a head start on a map for the next big CS version, I think the following approach is reasonable:
1. Develop, test and perfect your concept and layout in dev textures. (there should not be an issue in porting your layout to a new sdk).

2. Work on your textures and models using the L4D2 sdk. (I imagine that will be the hammer version of choice with nothing changed but a new game configuration file)

3. If Valve and Hidden Path are bastards and don’t allow for custom content, write your senator and then finish the work you’ve done in CS:S. Sure it won’t be the shiny new CS but the previous iteration will continue to thrive because it allows for custom content.

I wish I could go to one of those game conventions where people can test it CSGO out. But I can't. Why aren't there any game conventions in Australia!?!?

because until this year, every game either got banned or censored over there.. so no dev wants to go to there ^^

Some of that sounds like total bull shit to me. What's the source for that information?

Would they let you play an 18+ or 16+ game?

They allow 16+ games but 18+ games are banned or censored. We would have an 18+ rating if all the state premiers agreed on having it, all of them do agree except the SA premier (SA is a South Australia, which is a state).

Also @sourcemaps, keep in mind that the majority of video games aren't 18+.

Something just crossed my mind, and it would be really nice if it happened:

CS:GO + DOTA2 + HL(ep)3 = Orange Box 2 :D

It kind o makes sense. CS:GO, from what was disclosed so far, is a small project made by another studio, like Portal 1 was when they made the orange box, so Valve probably wont charge much (if anything) for it. But since it's a cross platform game they need to have a retail release for the console tards so it makes sense to put it on sale together with a big title. Since DOTA2 will probably be f2p (like TF2 is now), the only options left are the next HL chapter, or a re-release of Portal 2.
I've no sign
