RPS ponders what Steam really needs

Postby Blink on Tue Aug 14, 2012 1:33 pm

In the wake of the new Steam Community features being announced, Rock Paper Shotgun have posted some thoughts on what else needs fixing:

Again, it’s not supposed to happen, but sometimes, it just does. We live in an era of sleek, smart interface design and speedy performance. So why does it seem like the biggest purveyor of PC games in the world is trapped in 2004? Why doesn’t Steam feel particularly great to use?

Do find myself agreeing that it's quite clunky in places.

I'm happy that Steam is becoming easier to navigate... but I honestly can't remember any time where the interface actually confused me.

Yeah one of my biggest gripes is that the download servers have not had a lot more tacked on/expanded. Downloading can be a real bare, especially when something first gets released cause then you gotta battle a lot of other users downloading from the same source. :?

Other then being a bit slow on start up it works pretty good for me.
