I figured we should probably have a thread by now since I've been posting media from this mod in the map pimpage thread for about a year
New "Evolution of a Map" video. Bloody happy with how this turned out:
Watch at 1080p in fullscreen! There's a lot to see.
If you missed the last one in the map pimpage thread, here it is:
I really love this way of looking back at progress.
Anyway, to confirm, this is a Goldsource mod that has been under construction properly for around a year and a half. It's currently in the home stretch and while I'm not willing to quote a release date, we're fairly determined to let it see 2012. It's being developed by two people - Urbanebula and myself and features cameo voice acting from such e-celebs as Alex "Nerimon" Day, Vinny & Aaron from FND Films, Toby "Tobuscus" Turner and Phillip "PlanetPhillip" Marlowe.
Oh wow congrats on some really solid level design man. I can really appreciate great brushwork among the rest of what you are adding. As I am sure you already will, be sure to keep us posted on the rest of this mod.
looks like a parkin garage... Seriously, add some trims here and there. The top of those columns could use some triangular support thingies. Thin the guide rails. Put the gman somewhere in the back in a corner.
When you are up to your neck in shit, keep your head up high
There are no trims or triangular support thingies, plus, the map already has far more wpolies than Goldsource is happy with. I can't really add many more little details. Edit: I added the little black line below the panels at the top left.

i assumed you worked from a real life place. What works in real life doesnt have to work ingame. If hl was mapped to real life places most hallways would consist of just four brushes making up the walls and ceilings. Hardly attractive ingame.
But if you are hitting wpolies then thats a good reason to stop i guess.

You know you don't need to quote the images, right? :3 I know it doesn't have to match the real place exactly, and most of the time I do only use my reference images as a base to work from, but I was just pointing out that they're obviously not required structurally, and I don't think it's worth sacrificing the extra wpolies for not much gain. Appreciate the feedback, though!
You should see Cry of Fear & that DragonballZ mod (no idea what it's called). People are still pushing this old engine pretty far. This is looking great by the way pk_hunter!
Spent longer than I'd care to admit texturing the machine on the left. It's not even interactive, it's just a set-piece. The area around it is very WIP, so don't judge it yet.
Edit:
Incidentally, the texture set for it is prefixed "chigen" (Rchi Generator) so there's "chigenfront" and "chigenside", but there's a generic version of the red metal I used which is pleasingly titled "chigengen".
