Steam Guides

Postby Blink on Fri Jan 18, 2013 10:53 am

Today Steam Guides are now available.

Steam Guides lets players create and share guides, walkthroughs, and tips for their favorite games or software to help others who might be stuck or who simply want to learn more about the game. Players may easily create guides through Steam, where they may upload images, add screenshots, and embed YouTube videos. Guides are then quickly accessible through Steam, via the Steam Community and in-game via the Steam Overlay.

This will help for those times when I want to look up something through the overlay and Chrome decides to not want to cooperate with Steam. Just for the heck of it since I am playing through it I should write some in depth guide for Jedi Knight: Outcast.

Outcast was such a good game, be sure to put in all the 'Secret Items' locations.

Was just getting ready to start setting up sections when I read, "You must own Star Wars - Jedi Knight II: Jedi Outcast in order to create a guide."

I know why they do that but my gosh, I have the old disc version so I didn't buy it through steam! Now I am contemplating spending the ten bucks to pick it up and write a guide on it. Would be sure to make it very pretty with screenshots and videos, and anything else they will let me add.

Try activating your cd key on steam? Works with most games.

Actually, most aren't accepted. Here is a list of all retail cd keys that are accepted: https://support.steampowered.com/kb_art ... -wusf-3601

Doesn't surprise me seeing that no game supported by Lucasarts would be on that list. They are pretty up tight with their software and don't really go out of their way to make it accessible in different ways like that. They would go as far as putting it on steam cause it makes them more money but that's about it.

It looks like I will just have to buy it on steam when I get the chance. I can't minimize JK anyway cause it's just built oddly where I cannot bring up any programs, so I am trying to consider how I would type out notes for the general layout of places when I couldn't minimize anyway. Can you type up a guide from the steam overlay?
