Seventh riddle, pm me for points!

There was a murder in a downtown Sydney home on a Sunday morning. A woman was found dead. Her husband called the cops immediately. The cops interrogated the husband and the house-workers.
The husband said he took a nap.
The chef said she was cooking breakfast.
The gardener was planting fruit.
The handyman was fixing the shed.
The gay garden gnome was standing on the lawn.
The Grandmother was reading a book.
The nanny was getting the mail.

The cops arrested the murderer at once. The murderer, who is it? And how did the cops find out?

Note!!! As of 14th May 2007, the riddles are a weekly contest. Thank you.

Bear in mind I'll do a new riddle every 3 days. Hopefully people will participate well and it won't end up like the Picture Caption Competition ;)

He knows everyone who has seen a red dot will have their hand raised, he realises everyone has their hand raised and therefore realises he must have a red dot regardless of what the grandmaster said about blue dots?

"I will paint each one of you a red or a blue dot on your forehead"

One person had all three dots on his head, the other two had none.

The grand master was implying that he put a dot for each person on ONE mans head. If the other two had no dots, and raised their hands, then logically the third knew he had to have atleast one red dot.

Several points to make:

a) Answers MUST be sent in PM's or you are disqualified for the current round. I'll let the previous posted answers slide for now but there's no mercy next round :)

b) Thanks Athlete for putting the thread in the right spot, I was unsure whether to put it in serious discussion (so it doesn't go off topic) or general.

c) Several of you are misreading the question. You come up with things like "He had 3 dots on his head".

Notice that the grand master said I will paint each one of you a red or a blue dot (dot, not plural) on your forehead [leadphalanx you got lost here, he was talking about their individual foreheads because he said he would paint each one].

Another mistake is him having objects or seeing objects which could help him identify what he had on his forehead. Again, don't assume without evidence. Only assume based on what you are given- the riddle.

Some of your answers are just lol.

There's no right or wrong answer here. For those of you that have already PMed me, you can re-answer your questions in another PM seeing as it's only the first round. But put some serious thought into it. A lot of you are jumping to conclusions and skipping obvious facts. Good luck :)
