CSS: de_ or cs_?

I thought this would be an interesting case study to see which of the two listed types people like to play more. Personally I like de_ maps more because they tend to be more balanced than cs_ maps. That could just be because the first good (counter-strike) mappers made more good de_ maps than cs_ maps. If done properly, I think both types can be balanced.

yer i agree with you, the defusal maps aren't not as one sided (apart from aztec) as hostage rescue. It's not easy as a CT on hostage rescue maps, you have to run with 4 people following you, one usually being the slowest, stupidest old man on the planet. By the way, de_ means defusal, cs_ means........hostage rescue?? Always wonder what it really meant. Tell me it doesn't mean Counter-Strike

It's cs because that was the first gamemode to come with CS and I don't think they expected to make more, so it started out as cs

no it wasn't it was on cs_estate

i'll vote for de_ maps since they provide a better gameplay, but as a mapper i think cs maps are better since you don't have to worry about bs, and can concentrate more on making it look good

de is best got tournaments and clanwars. cs maps will probably be better eyecandy and less testing. but all you need is 1 gay terror to go kill all hossies and then hide to win the round.

Gotta go for defusal. Makes mapping more interesting and tactical.

For playing, I don't have a preference.
