Alternatives; Direct2Drive? Retail?

Postby kkirspel on Sun Nov 14, 2010 9:06 am

Hey so, I recently really really wanted to play a SWAT4 again that I use to have on an older computer. Problem is I lost the codes for it (it was physical copy).
I have found the game on Direct2Drive though as well as on Amazon.
To Amazon, I really don't like physical copies anymore.
To Direct2Drive, should I be under the impression that they are inherently evil b/c I use Steam?

Also, what about the chances of the game eventually being on Steam? Its half a decade old and its on D2D AND the orginal publisher had a sue/counter sue situation with Valve in the past. ¬_¬
The inspiration as to why I'm here: Adam Foster; Minerva. Great job man.

I'd go with retail... if only so that one day you'll stumble across the disc and remember the good times.
Just keep your library organized and don't lose stuff.

I often don't loose discs but I do loose their cases, so I try to write the code on the disc itself. If that helps any in the future.
Have a question related to modding or something I posted? Something that needs staff attention? I haven't been active lately, but feel free to PM me or message me on Steam(link below)

If you still have the CDs and you're not going to play multiplayer (if the game uses something like gamespy or steam, that is) then you could just lift a CD key from some site. CD keys are only really used at the install process. Patches might break it, but then just find another. There's the legality thing but I'd rather go by what you should really have the right to do by having bought the game originally: play it.
