Odd Question about store signs In Europe

Postby MayheM on Thu Feb 03, 2011 6:48 pm

Ok, So I have been working on a map for a while now and I got some images from cgtextrues.com to use as store fronts. They are obviously from someplace in Europe, or at least i think they are... Anyway. many of them have a specific sign in the window which i have been wondering about. It says simply "OP OP". I have been wondering what it meant, and the only thing I can think of is it is a "Sale" sign. This is not really important that I know, but it all revolves around an ongoing joke my friends and I have. One of my buddies read it as "OOP OOP" and it was said as though he was excited. I am not sure why but it made us all laugh. From time to time one of us will say it and it cracks everyone up. I am sure it sounds stupid, but I guess it is one of those had to be there things.

Anyway, am I right? Is it basically just a sale sign?

op = op is dutch for sold = sold

a limited quantity of items, once they are all sold there are none available anymore.

what image exactly?

Only thing i can think of is

op = op

meaning

gone = gone (we are so f*cking cheap we have a limited supply! Get it while we have it. Last chance! etc)

Yeah it is op = op... that's it. Ok that makes sense. Now I know. That has seriously been in my head for over a year.

Thanks for clearing that up...
