Do You Like Peanut Butter?

Postby kkirspel on Thu May 12, 2011 9:16 am

So I've been told the English absolutely hate peanut butter. Like... in some cases you can chase an English guy around with peanut butter and he'll scream or something similar.

At least, my girlfriend does this with the Euro guys that play soccer (football) at her university here in the states.

...there any truth to this? Just curious - cuz I'll love me some PB sandwiches every once in awhile :[]:

To me Peanut Butter is pretty disgusting, but then I wouldn't expect you guys to like Marmite either :P
If you want to try an interesting sandwich make one with brie and cranberry sauce. It sounds disgusting but is actually quite delicious - if done correctly you should only taste the brie, but it'll taste sweet :)

I've never heard of Yankees chasing Englishmen with peanut butter. Just... what?!

I hate peanut butter it just ruins the sandwich by making it taste like cardboard, yuk
I always put something like ham & cheese & tomatoes & salad & pickle and some mayonnaise

overdoing? nah. I eat my sandwiches for a meal not for a snack.

I am normally a Jif Peanut Butter kinda guy, but recently have started trying organic and more natural products.

Nothing beats a PB&J samich with a cold glass of milk but the bread has to be fresh and soft. Or maybe some PB and Banana...

Saxon, on the brie and cran sauce. I have recently acquired a taste for brie so I may give that a shot. Sometimes at work they have a ham and brie sandwich that is pretty freaking good though I could see turkey, brie and cran sauce. That would be the tits!

I guess we all have different tastes. Though I do find it hard to believe someone could actually not like peanut butter. I am not sure what you are eating white devil, but I have never eaten peanut butter that tasted like cardboard.

I have never heard that myth of the English not liking peanut butter. Personally, I love the stuff as long as it actually tastes like peanuts, and not just sugary crap.

Haha, I was just wondering - might have been useful one day if it was true.

Yeah, never had the stuff taste like cardboard either... I have had it give me that heart attack-like feeling in your chest from eating too much too fast (I eat the hell out of sandwiches), but its nothing that a... yessss... cold glass of milk can't fix.

And I'm a Crunchy peanut butter type of guy; none of that pansy Creamy crap for kids... I guess I'm saying I eat the one that is legit peanut butter (cuz it has real peanuts in it?).
So Ad, please accept me now.

Anyways, if I do say so myself, I thought the title was the stuff of legends :smt044

Fuckin word. I used to eat PB&Js all the time as a kid. I can seriously dine on some PB toast too. I still like JIFF though. Have you had JIFF Natural? It's actually not that bad.

Peanut Butter really isn't bad. If you buy a shitty brand then yeah, it's gonna suck, but if you get the right kind it's deeelicious.

Well, Peanut Butter is at least not very common in Germany ... generally I guess we eat more ham, salami and chocolate creams (like Nutella) on bread. So if you started asking this question in Germany, on a normal street, your answers would most likely be: No idea, never tried.
If you want Peanut Butter, you can of course buy it. We bought Peanut Butter and personally I did not like it. Of course, it was only one try and I bet there might be a peanut butter which actually tastes good.

I really LOVE M&Ms Peanut Butter, but they are not sold on German market, so we still work on a big bag a friend gave us, after we ran out of our bag we had bought from New York.

If there is a peanut butter which tastes like the one in the M&Ms, tell me :-D I'll import it!

I'd put pretty much anything in a sandwich except vegemite (kinda like marmite, i think) or liver paté.

Yeah... I think you should start to worry now.

Anyways back on topic lol. There's good peanut butter (squishy and moist and stuff) that's easy to apply on bread and there's horrible, dry peanut butter.

Heh, I've tried the peanut butter and jam combination once and my guess is that peanut butter in the states must be different or something because it just tastes exactly like that, peanut butter and jam lol. It's nowhere near the holy combination of cookies and milk nor coffee and chocolate imo.
