I don't want to make light of Steve Jobs death but it really is sad to see where our priorities are as a society. We are not mourning the death of Shuttlesworth, who also died, a man who fought for civil rights in the South during one of our nation's most difficult times but instead we are devastated because a man who created an object passed away. Steve Jobs created a piece of technology and people are thanking him for "changing our world." Why are you people thanking a man that you made the 42nd wealthiest American? Steve Jobs did change the computer industry forever, but Fred Shuttlesworth fought against hate and gave blacks in the South hope. Steve Jobs fleeced you for your money and made you believe he gave you something that you "couldn't live without." I say this not to vilify Steve Jobs but to make the point that we are so far gone as a society, we live and die with materials and celebrities. It's a bummer.
That said, isn't it ironic Steve Jobs died from Pancreatic Cancer? PC? HURR HURR.
