Here's a map of US nuclear power plants/warhead facilities, I think it'd go along with the thread nicely :3

It already effects me pretty adversely, i dont drive, because it just costs too much to fill up. So i ride a bike. Oil production has already peaked, and oil prices will never be near what they were 10 years ago.

I don't think that the switch from fossil fuel will be as drastic as some think it will be, odds are we will end up using natural gas, or another liquid combustible, seeing as we don't have the infrastructure prepared for anything else. Either that, or the cut off from oil will end up causing a catastrophic break down in american society.

Electric cars on the other hand are not the most effective for long range transport, there would need to be more charging stations, and there is also the cost for batteries and motors, which all has to be replaced much more frequently than a combustion engine.

Im sure that most of the greater changes are only going to take place when we're near the brink of complete failure.

Does that mean I can invade USA now? Because it did it to countries who were supposed to have nukes.

You can't invade the World Police. And a lot of countries shouldn't have nukes, I'm still pissed we haven't finished NK off yet.

I don't understand either. Too much regulation and the military wants the castoff for uranium tipped shells and nuclear devices I guess :/

Electric cars might work out...there have been some new advances in batteries that haven't left the lab which allow you to charge the battery in a single jolt. There are some designs for carwash style facilities that have a robot change out the battery. There are also advances in capacity and life on the horizon.

Paint on solar cells also have a lot of potential, for cars and for buildings. Some powerplants burn petroleum products, it's not just cars, and vehicles and infrastructure move the gas around as well. The more a building can generate it's own power the less of a burden on the powergrid, which is quite stressed.

For cars, braking and be harnessed to recharge batteries. Red lights are also an opportunity for charging through the road. The biggest problem with electric cars is that they aren't fun to drive.

Using shape memory alloys in planes to adjust their lift characteristics significantly reduce their weight and fuel costs. The new GPS air traffic control system that is being put up will significantly help too, as they will be able to fly shorter routes.
