Staff were informed of the shutdown this morning, according to a reliable Kotaku source. Some 150 people were laid off, and both of the studio's current projects—Star Wars: First Assault and Star Wars 1313—were cancelled. Disney will still use the LucasArts name to license games, but the studio is no more.

My first Star Wars game was "Tie Fighter". It had some problems running on Windows 95, because it was a DOS game and I was too young to deal with such things, but I played it a lot. I had Star Wars: Rebellion, too. Another great game.

Empire At War was cool after you installed some mods.

Jedi Knight was of course serious shit, and Jedi Outcast as well. After that, I didn't like the games much anymore.

Jedi Outcast imo which came out back in 2002.

Republic Commando, Star Wars: 1313 looked amazing though, they seem to take their time with games and it always pays off. Outcast was made by Raven not LucasArts.

It was the legacy of LucasArts that makes this news so disappointing. They may not of put out a significantly memorable game of recent times, but they harbored so much talent.

Day of the Tentacle, Monkey Island, Full Throttle, Sam & Max, Grim Fandango, TIE Fighter, Rogue Squadron....You can't knock those games. And the tech used in 1313 was phenomenal.

Hit me right in the childhood :/

Makes you wonder if they planned this from the start.

I doubt it otherwise they wouldn't have started on more games being developed. Kinda seems like they got the carpet pulled out from under them.

Disney doesn't know how to handle video game development. Not the same, but cancelling of the Pirates game was also a stupid move.

Disney killed Black Rock remember aswell. Seems like they're trying very hard to get out of the games business, and LA was just an unwanted attachment to the LucasFilm acquisition. It's a real shame because LA had quite a few guys from ILM working on 1313 and it looked incredible ...
