CS: Source Sky Names

To apply a sky you must first have a skybox around your map making sure there is no leaks (gaps). To apply a sky texture to the skybox, you go to Map->Properties at the top of the editor. Click on "SkyBox Texture Name" and in the empty field type in one of the following sky names:

cx
de_cobble
de_piranesi
hav
italy
jungle
office
sky_dust
sky_wasteland02

(These will be updated as more become available)

Heard of 3d skies, anyone?

Just make fog in the 3d sky and make water that doesnt go out too far (that is if you dont want it to lag like a bitch)

You can use the HL ones... but to my knowledge there are no proper night skys. dev_black in a 3D skybox is as close as you get.

Anyone know how to make your own skybox?

I found a tutorial over on snarkpit which goes as far as converting TGAs to VTFs&VMFs, but I can't figure out how to actually get it into Hammer...

So far HL2 sky names work for CS:S. As for the best night theme you may want to use "sky_borealis01" till another is made or you make one yourself. :P Can always refer to the HL2 sky names in the HL2 Tutorials 8)

Besides there are even pictures too :o
