Antlion Rush

Create a stream of Ant Lions to storm an area continuously.

This tutorial will show you how to make antlions spawn and attack in a Single Player map.

Start with a map that is suitable for this tutorial, like a defense map for example. Now you want your antlions to attack at a specific point. Place the entity info_node on the ground. This is where the antlions will walk. Then create an npc_antlion where you want the antlions to start. Then place info_nodes where you want them to walk, like the picture below.

Alot of info_nodes will be needed for the antlions to have alot of routes to take. If you want them to take a specific route, just place them where you want them to walk. Now if you want your antlions to fly over a wall or something like that, you should make a info_node_air, and make it up the air (near the wall) and make one a little closer to the wall and a bit lower too. Then make a normal info_node where you want them to land. Somewhat like this.

And there you are now done. Note that this can be used for all the NPC's available. And you should also note that you have to make many info_nodes for them to run in different paths.

in hl2 deathmatch this doesnt work, doesnt it? so is there an option to do this in multiplayer too? :roll:

Of course not. HL2DM is designed to work against other players, if you could do it then you could spark up some kind of "New Gameplay" revouloution, where all the humans were friendly, couldnt you? they SERIOUSLY dont want that

Anyway, nice tutorial, but i personaly dont think there is any point to making maps that are SP because I like half life mods for the multiplayer!

I have made a npc_maker to create the antlions and they just sit there. :?
How do i get them to move down the path to a point in the base when they spawn.

This is just a noobish hunch, but I think there are deeper problems than antlions with AI in multiplayer in the HL2 engine, Hades.

Make an Env_global,set it's "global state to set" (Something like that!) to "Antlions are player allies."Also set "Initial State" to on,and check its only flag.

Antlions not going to the right spot?This one is a bit more complex:
Create a path_corner and place it where the antlions ought to rush.Name it something like "AntlionsRushHere."Now,make an npc_antlion.Set the path corner to target to "AntlionsRushHere."In the flags for the antlion,check "Template NPC." Lastly,replace the npc_maker with an npc_template_maker and set the npc it is to spawn to whatever you named your special little antlion.Hope it helps! :smt063 Antlion tamer,AWAY!

Ive seen it work - even had the camera flying thingys drop mines - its all done via console - i could find out if you want....

Well, this is a very unfinished tutorial - it misses out everything useful and cool about antlions. Like how to continually spawn them using the antlion_template_maker, etc etc

It's essentialy just an npc + path track
