Just in case anyone is still having bother setting this up, try it like this -

"C:\Program Files\Valve\Steam\SteamApps\theangriestbadger\sourcesdk\bin\vtex.exe" -mkdir -shader LightmappedGeneric "C:\Program Files\Valve\Steam\SteamApps\theangriestbadger\sourcesdk_content\cstrike\materialsrc\cathedral\*.tga"

Pay attention to where I put the quote marks (") They are important!

Using VTFEdit, found at Nemesis' site (at the wavelength).

Also, VTFCreate is a great tool for creating materials as well.

hey i've got some custom textures from the map cs_suberb_beta, not sure if your familiar with that map, but i was just testing my map yesterday when a guy joined and he said he couldn't see most of the textures. Im figuring this to be because many of the textures are from that map. Do u know how i make it so anyone who joins my map will automatically download those textures??? cause i really dont want to have to put the normal cs textures in my map cause most of the normal textures are no good if u dont want your walls to look like they are falling apart. I have checked to see that the suberban folder is in the materials folder. i was wondering maybe it is where i save my map... cause when u go file save as it sometimes brings up the default directory:
steamapps--username--sourcesdk_content-cstrike--mapsrc
and i keep saving it under:
steamapps--username--counter-strike source--cstrike--maps

thanks

I find using the VTF plugin for photoshop easier. You just need to know how to write vmts (which is simple).

Hey, ive kinda got stuck here, im not very computer literate as it is, i just kinda pick bits up as i go along, or get my friends round to help, but ive decided i want to learn to texture, as its a logical step if i want to improve my maps. But as i said, im not very good with anything to do with computers that isnt playing games and watching flash :?

Ive got a daft texture ive made and i want to get it working in hammer and game just so i can check that it works, then i can work on getting better. Now ive got so far through this tut but ive got stuck, and seems as im busy lately and not getting on the forums much so i was wondering if one of you that knows what you're doing could add me to msn and hold my hand and walk me through it as im an idiot and ill probably just get stuck if you replied everything on here. I'm the type of person who, once ive been shown and got it right once, ill be ok, but its getting it done that once that seems to be the hard part here. So if one of you could spare 10 mins when its convenient to talk me through it, could you pm me and ill send you my addy.

Sorry for the lengthy essay there, just im a bit embarrased to ask as i dont like disturbing people :? It'll be much appreciated

Cheers, Kris
