It frankly hasn't added much to my level, but great tutorial all the same.

And i seriously doubt you care.

Seriously, best post ever.

Now I have another problem. For some reason, the ground isn't solid anymore. And yes, I do have that No-Clip thing there, but I'm just going through it if I try to walk on it.
I'm still having problems with the button not doing anything, too.

well i've got it working completely... if your having trouble getting it so u can't go through the walls and roof of the elevator just make the casing also part of elevator.. all u need to do is make your whole casing whatever u want (i used nodraw so it would stop bullets also.) then do everything the same as before but instead of just the bottom brush being called elevator select all the pieces and name them elevator and do all the things u did to just teh bottom peice to now the whole big brush collection. i doubt im making any sence at all but im not gunna try and reword it.

Other than that, it's fine. I use noclip to get to it, start it up, and it goes right through the wall to where I want it to go. It just doesn't start out in the right place.
By the way, it does look fine in Hammer, it's just in-game.
EDIT: I fixed it, but now it doesn't do anything when I press the button.

Are you making a cs:s level? cs:s mapping is sooo buggy and its no fun. This position problem you are talking about also effects ropes. One end is stretched to the point where those three colored lines intersect in hammer. Looks fine in hammer but in gameplay.... it is screwy. (this is also known as:
"the parenting bug".)

As a matter of fact, you do parent the func_button and the prop_dynamic entities to the elevator. There could be your answer. :!:  :!:

Great

Postby monomapmaker on Thu Jul 13, 2006 9:37 am

Worked great for me first time I tried thanks a bunch. I almost tried to do it on my own and then found this helped me out a LOT! Excecpt I havent added the playerclip so I can still walk through the walls but I was wondering what to make the clip with would it me a func_brush or what because I'm guessing thats not it and will cause a problem?

create the button that activates the elevator, and remember to make the path's link to eachother. Its all explained here how you make it go up and down.
You click on Build or type
make (or some equivalent), and you are astonished, then mortified, as you realize that the whole world is being
recompiled and relinked!

Maybe I need to adjust my contacts, but I didn't see anything on this tut about making your elevator go down.

Move the elevator to the UP position, then move the direction/destination below it. Just swap it around.

For some odd reason everytime I try to use the elevator it freezes me in place

Like, I can't move, I cannot no clip, and the only way I can get out of it is if i spawn something to kill me. Any one else have this problem and know how to fix it?
