My problem is that I have a large map with lights and scripted sequences. I want to load the second half of the map somewhere so it wont be so laggy. All comments are appreciated.

well, if it has a "second half" then there is probably some kind of connection between them -- so you'll have to put the transition there. If not, you'll just have to optimize and hope for the best.

Hello,

I have several different maps that are linked together. My question is I would like to have a trigger that plays a sound, but the source of the sound is in another map(can be herd from the trigger), is there a way that I could pass data from one map to another to keep the music playing? I made 2 simple levels and had all the same entity's and when I switched from the trigger level to the other level the music stopped is there a way around this?

Hold Ctrl.

But you've been active on this forum longer than I have, how is it that you don't know this?

It is not possible as far as I know to load two maps (or even a portion of two maps) at the same time in Source, so what you're suggesting isn't possible. Someone correct me if I'm wrong but I don't think it's possible to link I/O's between maps, either, so you should just make the same music present in both maps, and have it start playing as soon as the second map loads, using a trigger positioned in the same spot as the info_player_start. Or you could figure out a way to not have the music playing when the level transitions.

Make sure you've got your I/O's all set up correctly, all necessary entities present, your map names matched perfectly, both maps compiled, and both in the same "maps" folder.
