Yeah Zeta, i remember your post, it was almost as bad as the original tutorial on debris, when i saw this pic i almost cried

I have never seen anyone use so many brushes for such a simple peice of architecture

Not to be rude but if you did your brushwork that way your map would be unplayable and the bsp file would most likely be huge

ok. ive followed this tutorial on many occasions, but im having an issue. :(
every time i try and add displacement to the hole,(to give it a more natural rough look.) when compiling the map, it simply removes the displacement ive created. leaving my broken edges with a clean cut look to them. any ideas on what im missing? or doing wrong?
anyone else ever wonder what we would look like without lips? not too pretty i think.

The only thing i can think of is that your using displacements that are tied to entities such as func_details ro something, displacement maps need to be world brushes and they do not cut bsp

Also do not use a seperate displacement for each inside face of the broken wall, make like 2-4 displacements and edit their verts till u get it looking right and use a value of 2 for your dieplcement maps when making wall detail with them

lol, I guess it's fine if it's a tutorial, they don't really loose relevancy like a normal thread.

But chargers, you can't usually find a prop that has the same texture as the wall you're trying to break up, and alot of mappers don't know how to model, so even though this is messier, and runs slower, it's better than nothing :)
