Well, I hope this topic isn't dead...

I'm trying to get a custom voice into my game. I followed this tutorial, and I got through audacity, creating a soundscript and closecaption file, but when I get to faceposer it finds the soundscript but it doesn't properly load in faceposer. It shows me this:

Sorry for the bump, but I really need some help here. For 3 days now I have been trying unsuccessfully to get faceposer to recognize the sound. No matter what I do, it wont show up. Anyone got any ideas?

92% of teens have moved onto rap. If you are part of the 8% that still listen to real music, copy and paste this into your signature.

Hey guys :-)

@Towlie92 : It's cool to show an image to explain your problem :-) Could you show your soundscript ? Because it seems Faceposer doesn't find the link to your .wav file.

@UberNoob : You mean you've got no sound at all ? Or you can't read one of your .wav file ?

@geekofalltrades : No bad necropost mate :-) If you have a question, feel free to ask. Sorry I couldn't help your earlier, and thanks for sharing the solution to your problem :-)

Cheers !

The soundscript entry shows up in the list, but the sound won't play at all. Thats what I meant. Also, the wav file doesn't appear in the soundscript entry.

Could you show your soundscript ? :)

So, in this screen, you don't see the address of your Wav under "Wav File:" ?

Give some visual material so I can really help you :)

:-)

Then, in your soundscript, you miss this line :
Code: Select all
"wave"      "rebellion\vo\01_1\threepwood01.wav"

Make sure the " are there around "wave" and your link to the wav. Also, that there is nothing before "wave" (except spaces).

Hope this helps ;-)

Hi I am new to the mod stuff. I configured my hammer with source engine 2006 and created my mod with it and put the hammer configurations with half life ep 1. Now I am confused that my whenever I try to put my custom wave files in channel of faceposer it can't detect it.I have placed my wave files under ..steam/steamapps/sourcemod/my mod/sound/something.wav. I have used audacity with all pre req. I feel I have screwed my hammer configuration as I am using my mod instead of halflife 2 in current game. Can any one tell me what could be the problem. I am abe to see all wave files (not sure if they belong to ep1) but the problem comes when I try adding wave file in a channel. It works fine even in phoneme editor. please help

I can't help you too much with the sound side of Source, as I've tried to avoid the hassle of it myself, but you should try using this "fill in the blank" mod setup that jangalomph created:
http://www.moddb.com/mods/orange-box-base-mod-developers-kit
So all you'll have to do is drap and drop your content into it while just editing a few text files. This would erase any potental mod configuration problems right off. That is unless you're using the Episode 1 configuration for a specific reason...
At any rate, Kyl' still seems active so he should be along shortly to help you with the direct sound problem(s), as he's a pretty cool guy :smt023

EDIT: smilies are OFF :(

Thanks for the reply I am attaching jpeg of my hammer settings and particularly a problem I am facing. I am still not sure if its due to my hammer settings but I have a feeling that it can be a possibility. since I am using current game as MY Mod and sound root folder should be my mod folder but still its unable to find my custom sound. below are the jpegs please have a look and suggest. If I am doing it wrong way then let me know. I have to make a small scenario without fight environment and it includes more talking.

I don't know about anyone else following this thread, but I can't see the pictures you posted...

Not sure how much I could help, I haven't tried doing anything like this yet b/c it can be a pain getting custom sounds into HL2 and b/c I don't have the quality recording that I'd like. (kyl' where is youuuu...)

Maybe this weekend I can just try and replicate what you did and/or how to properly do it :\

I can see them now. It looks like I really won't get anytime to spend looking into it this weekend though, sorry; my university is pounding the hell out of me with projects to do...

Again though, I'm totally noob at that side of stuff, so I'll have to also learn it while looking for the problem.

EDIT: It seems Kyl' has been online, but he hasn't checked his posts I guess, or simply doesn't want/have the time to answer...

Hey guys :-)

So I'm a cool guy ? Cool :-)
Sorry for the late reply, I'm not always on this side of the forum. Just don't hesitate to drop a private message in in the future.

As for your problem, Hani, I'm going to need to see your sound manifest (the .txt file containing your soundscripts) with your soundscript :-)
Looks like Faceposer finds the soundscript, but that the link to the .wav file is wrong.
If you could also give a screenshot of the "WAV file..." window (when adding a soundscript) in Faceposer with your soundscript selected, that would be helpful.

We'll see what the next step would be afterwards :-)

Cheers,

Kyl'
