Hello, and welcome to this build-theory tutorial on modern building supports. Let's start out with some reference pictures. Pay attention to the ceiling supports.

These supports follow a regular pattern.

Image

Vertical bars are placed in increment around all the edges.

Image

Then, horizontal bars go around the perimeter of the verticals.

Image

At the top, horizontal bars go from one end to the other and around the perimeter.

Image

Horizontal bars crisscross the other top bars. The basic idea is done.

Image

Detail is added. This is a simple example.

Image

Square geometry works, but adding more complex shapes can make it look more appealing.

This is a basic look of working with supports in a large, open buildings. Think of the way things your buildings can be held up. Supports add detail and realism to a map.

And of course, fellas......all that fancy architectural support brushwork is turned into a func_detail if you know what's good for you.

Calling it building support theory seems a little pedantic, but otherwise this is a good reference.
