Alright, you've seen those really cool elevator tutorials. This isn’t one of 'em. If you can’t do those, then you can most likely do this. It makes the view glitch up a bit when the elevator is moving (When you are on it) but it gets the job done and you can set it so it practically teleports you to the top.
Step one: make a brush the size, shape, and texture you want the elevator to be and make sure it is on the lower floor that you want the elevator to be on.(Can be multiple brushes grouped together)
2: Find the distance (Units) it will take to get from the top of the elevator brush to the floor that you want the elevator to bring the player to.
3: Tie the brush (Or group of brushes) to an entity and set it to func_door
4: Set the speed to a desired speed (Might want to experiment with that) I use 100000 in some of the crazier maps because it's almost like a transport instead of a slower, glitchier elevator.
5: Set the moving direction to UP
6: Set the Lip to zero minus that number that you got in number 3. (It will be - The number. Just that number made negative)
7: Set the flags to what you want it to do...
-touch to open will make it so it goes up when you FIRST step on it
-press E to open will make it so you have to look down and press e to go up
-toggle will make it so it stays up until you go back down the elevator (Toggle unchecked will make it go back down. You can change the time setting)
8 (Optional): If you want a button (Or multiple buttons) you can create a button (Func_button) or a lever by using func_door_rotating. To make it make the elevator go up/down, give the elevator a unique name and in the output of your button, on press, make it make your elevator toggle.
9: Test and enjoy using the cheap elevators while they last. You will most likely not use this short after because the good ones are much better.
If you have any questions, just ask 'em right here. I'd be glad to answer them.
