Just a quick question, when adding the light_enviroment, do you add one inside this map (withing your skybox) and outside the map (outside the skybox) in order for it to work right? I really am hoping on releasing this crazy hl2 level project im working on. But i need to figure out how to make the level change process work.

Email me at

fruitkiller222@hotmail.com

If your bothered enough to inform me on the level change problem.
(NOT THE LIGHT_ENVIROMENT QUESTION!)

I have a question

Postby Biological-Bum on Tue Nov 29, 2005 3:27 am

Im trying to make a good map and just started a few weeks ago. I want it to be completely dark and so, I didnt put any environmental lighting in it. Only lamps and things. What sky should I use? Is there a tutorial I can look at for something like this? Also, there is something else that has nothing to do with lighting. My map is surrounded with water. Is there a way of making it seem like there is more water than there is from the land to the walls of the map?

w00t! Thanks again Ferret! I've been trying to figure out the damn lighting in my map for ages now and finally you've helped me to fix it! No more ugly coloured shadows and reflections for me!

Avter you decompile a map with vmex, open it in hammer and go under MAP>PROPERTIES and under sky name it will tell uw what the sky texture used for that map is, so you can findo ut what they used for the css maps
