This tutorial takes you through the simple process of setting up a door that is usable only by Combine, also setting up Rebel only doors is shown.

This'll tell you how to make doors which can only be opened by combine.

First off, we'll need a good ol' door func_door, a trigger_multiple, and a filter_activator_team.

Get out your filter_activator_team, go into its properties, and set the "Name" to "Combine_Filter" set "Filter Mode" to "Allow entities that match criteria" and set the "Filter Team Number" to "Combine"

Now, go into your func_door, set the door's "Name" to "Door1" set the door's "Delay Before Reset" to 1. Go into its Flags and uncheck touch opens.

Thirdly, go into your trigger multiple and put this into its Outputs:

After that, go to the Keys again, and set "Filter Name" to "Combine_Filter"

Now, you should have a door that opens only for the combines when they walk through the trigger, but what you want to do is put the trigger 1 pixel outside of the door so your player can trigger it when he hits the door.

For Rebels, just do the exact same thing, except turn the "Filter Team Number" to "Rebels" and change the names of everything.

Leaked

Apparently the filter_activator_team has benn leaked. Im not sure how to fix this cuase im a newb when it comes to fixing crap, and I was wondering why it is leaked. I followed the tute to the dot but this was unexpected.

This means your map has a leak, it wasnt the tut it was your crappy map full of leaks.

Well shifty, you don't really need to be an asshole about it... He doesn't know what a leak is yet.

A leak is a hole to the outside void. Make sure that your map is completely sealed it, and that no entities are touching the void.

Great tut but where exactly is the "keys" and when i insert "trigger multiple" it works but says it is obsolete. Is there a newer version of this entity for me to use?

trigger_multiple is a brush based entity, so you must create a brush, texture it with tools/toolstrigger and while the brush is selected press Ctrl+T to tie it to an entity, in the box put trigger_multiple. The key values are on the first page of the entity properties.

ok... i've done all that but now how the hell do I actually attach all that to a door? theres no options anywhere to actually set a model or texture for Door1 (assuming because it's an entity and not a brush) so how exactly would I go about making one of those combine energy shields type things? I'm making a map for sourceforts and was wondering how...

EDIT: Ok, I can attach it to a door now but I still have no idea how to do those combine shield doors (You know the ones - where hundreds of them spawn through mostly in the last chapter of HL2)

EDIT: Ok, I got it now, no thanks to any of you guys - I feel like I've been let down now! :(

Anyway to adapt this to kill people if they are on the wrong team trying to get in when its open.
