On-Screen Text

Hello, this tutorial will teach you how to put text in your map, whats going to happen is you are goin to walk over a trigger and its going to display a message on screen, here we go

1. Create a Simple Room, add lights, and a starting point

2. Place a Trigger in the Middle of the map (as shown below) and tie it to "trigger_multible" and name it "text_trigger"

3. Place a "game_text" Entity on the floor somewhere (beside your info_player_start would be good)

4. Open the properties for the game_text and name it "text1"

5. Just under Name there should be Message Text, This is were you write the message you want to Display, Im writing "www.interlopers.net". You write want you want.

6. Open the properties for the "Trigger_Multible" then click the outputs tab add the following

My Output Named: On Trigger

Targets Entities Named: Text1

Via This output: Display

It should look like this

Once your done Compile your map Heres the result

Tips

-In the Game_text Properties there are options to Change the Location were the text will show on-screen in a x and y axis system

-You can also Change the color of the text by selecting Color1 and Color 2

a tut on how to display text from a button would be more helpful... :D

Button1 (the name of ur button)
Onpress
Gametext1 (ur game_text entity)
Display Text

Easy as that

That must involve some coding, but im not sure, but i dont think its impossible

:!: Ok, the text should work and all of the inputs and outputs on my trigger and text are working but I am not seeing it. Nothing shows up!
I have stuff written and I have a sound along with it so I know the output is working but it isn't working. ???? :x
-Spongebob what are these visleaves doing here? You said you were gonna optimize 'em!
-But I am optimizing leaves.
-But they're still all over the map.
-Sandy I can't optimize any faster these are BIG visleaves... and they keep breaking into more leaves!

This happens some times when there hasnt been a proper compile, basically create another game_text give it all the same inputs outputs and variable and it should work, and also check for flaws in you trigger work
