Which one is better? Fog or no fog?

Also, I had one compile with fps over 100, then the nest one is was down like 50. :\ Why would this be? Would switching from groups to solids cause this?

Personally I like no fog. The fog doesn't really add to the atmosphere, so not much sense in having it. Im not sure about the fps differences. Did you change any of the world architecture or hint brushes? Are you sure theres no leaks? It could also be the fog if that was the difference between the two (You'll have to specify what you changed between the two compiles).

I'm running a final compile of my map now. Should have final pics up in a while.

Edit: And waterpyro, your map looks good. If you have time before tomorrow I would try adding a few detail brushed to make it less blocky along with some decals for some extra details. It looks like it would have solid gameplay though, I'll have to run through it after my final tomorrow.

@something - i'd go for less fog. the fog you have isnt adding anything, but a touch of fog (like, 20% of what you have there) would be nice.

good luck Garrador, i wanna see all of these finished!

No, I did not chnage another of those things. Would hint brushes really help on a map like this since its basically dispalcements?

Also, I have an mp3 in my map, but it doesn't loop after each round. Does it need to be a wav?

Update:

Steam Decided to update counterstrike (for no apparent reason) which once again broke most of the css server plugins, zombiemod included. Coldfyre, our coding guru will get on the case this weekend and release an updated version of the plugin. This means testing can commence on the 16th but the maps still need to be in today (up to the very last minute if you need it).

@Something: No fog looks cleaner and crisper.

However, if you want that extra fps and map speed, some fog will help those long distance props.

Also you might want to think about considering fps when there are 16 or 32 clients all running around shooting props.

No fog, ftw, if the fps is still ok.

The fps at the lowest point is around ~40, but it goes all the way over 100 too. I found out that fog doesn't do anything for the fps, and infact, I'm just using fading to help.

The cheaper pistols now have the power to hurt people instead of poking them.

LoL Psycho.. The shittiest thing is, that I had to stop making my map. Results aren't nice if I had rushed the map for this day. So, there's not coming my map for this competition. You'll see it couple of weeks later.. :D
