something: your shots look almost like something that was war torn long ago, but has since grown peaceful and quiet. so for me (whether you intended to or not), you sort of captured both themes. personally, I would have taken shots from more varying angles. If you had one from above that showed the gunship more clearly, well that would just be swell.
Ripper_hugme: I'm guessing you were going for 'war of the worlds'. The mapping itself seems good, but your shots are too dark and narrow to really drive home the war theme for me. If the theme were 'desolation' or something like that, you'd be spot on.
nuke333: You get points for attempting the 'peace' theme. Making a map to convey that feeling, up against a bunch of war maps is a tall order. that said, I don't really feel it in your shots. They aren't bad, but I don't really get a sense of emotion from them. The color of your skybox is a stark contrast to the rest of the map, which is a bit jarring. That may be the problem, though i'm not really sure.
Sathor: You did an excellent job driving home the grim sense of what war really is. I only wish you would have varied the angles of your shots more. one from maybe 10 - 15 feet in the air would have changed it up a bit.
Kodox: Your shots are cool, and convey a sense of large scale war in some sort of futuristic alternate reality. The only real downside is the lack of skybox.
in the end, it's a tough call for me between Sathor and Something. Sathor hits the nail on the head in terms of theme, but in these competitions, i usually weigh both theme, and composition. Something has created a scene that's visually interesting while capturing something from both sides of the theme (war / peace) in my eyes.
Congratulations Something, you get my vote.
