Welcome, one and all, to the latest Interlopers map Battle! This time round, the theme will be....
Vertical. Make a map that emphasizes, or makes good use of, the z-axis. How you choose to do that is up to you: a futuristic spire, a classic church, an urban centre of high-rises & skyscrapers, a cliffside scene, a giant mine-shaft entrance, or just a regular map-scene with a concentration on multiple levels...the possibilities are legion.
Some tips here - the real challenge here is to avoid bland repetition. Also, choose your camera angles carefully - while a really high-angle shot (looking down or up sharply) might look cool to you in-game, it doesn't always carry over well in screenshots. My advice would be to always take them a little further back than where you think you should. And just because the z-axis is the focus, don't neglect the other two!
Also, to give you a bit more scope, I will permit things that aren't strictly vertical - very steep slopes, where the sense of height is overwhelmingly clear, for example, would be fine.
As always, the basic rules are: 3 screenshots from a Source game, posted into this thread before the deadline, which will be put to a public vote, and will/should be judged primarily on their aesthetic quality, mapping skill and use of the theme. Custom content is not only permitted, but encouraged.
Any Questions? feel free to
contact me, and check
the rules. I'd like to remind you all to mark your screenshots as Final or WIP, it makes things much, much easier when it comes to putting up the vote, it saves me waiting on replies from people who's entries were unclear.
The Battle will run till Monday Night, June 2, giving you a bunch of weekends.
