Map Battle 24 - Vertical - Final Images & Vote

I can appreciate Nacrosse's map, and I voted for it. But looking back, I might kinda want to take it back, not because it isn't cool, but because as far as a map goes, it's not very complete.

Thanks for all the votes. I am really happy that a lot of people turned in their entries. There is a huge variety in styles. I am not completely happy with my work. I textured it like in 1 hour because I was running out of time and I do have to agree with KILLA-COW it looked somehow better with the dev texture. However, geat work everybody!!!

My "Voting Final" was between 904 + DM. Took a bit to work out who I was eventually going to vote for, but in the end, I went with DeathMonkey. The reasoning is outlined below.

@DM: Brilliant scene. I was slightly disapointed that we only really saw one angle though. A larger shot from a higher POV would have been great - but then I didn't follow the WIP thread that much, so have no idea how much of the castle/churchy thing you actually completed.

@904: I remember you posting those shots aaaages ago. Whilst it's not against the rules etc to submit work you've previously done, you'd have won my vote if only you'd added to it/expanded the scene etc. It is, afterall, an un-finished piece (im sure it was "The un-finished projects" thread or something I saw it in). Great scene...just wish it was a bit 'newer'.

Good effort everyone else. I would comment on you all, but im too lazy and it was those two that particularly caught my intrest.

His is undoubtedly fantastic, but I didn't think that it really fit the 'Vertical' theme. If it had ben 'Urban' or 'Transportation' then it would have pretty much guaranteed my vote.

It was so hard decision to make. So many great entries.. But I've had to choose just one.

So, Stubby.. you've got my vote, because your is the most consistent.

my aim wasn't literally vertical in that sence, but it has it's own enormity in everyday proportions, looking back in hindsight, it probably would have helped to get some of the new shots in there. The one with the jet flying overhead would've been sweet. Good entries on everyone else, can't wait till the next round to cook something new.

yeah.. I was working on a different entry, which failed miserably. I always liked the looks of it, so this was a last-minute submission and I didn't take any time to rework it.

I like deathmonkey's alot but it's kind of repetitive.

I like joedirt's but I don't think it conveys the theme at all.

I almost voted for 904's but

Jister's third shot is pure artistic brilliance. Looks like a watercolor to me.
