Map Battle 25 'Something's Not Right' - Vote & Final Images

Well well well, what a battle, I'm really impressed! A whopping 20 entrants, that's gotta be a record - last battle we had more entries than the forum could support, and had to raise the limit, and already we've hit it again!

Thanks to everyone who entered -this Battle's theme wasn't an easy one, and you've all risen to it marvellously. The theme, of course, was Something's Not Right - so we were challenging you to convey with screenshots alone feelings of fear, terror, dread or nervousness, of something being out of place or anachronistic, of being scared, shaken up, or spooked out, or --hardest of all to pin down, in my opinion-- that creeping, ever-so-subtle feeling of unease.

And look how you've done! There's some really lovely stuff in here, from the bizarre to the everyday, from the grand to the subtle, from entries that are in their own worlds to those that echo old horror films. Truly good stuff, my biggest gripe is that I'm having a hard time picking a favourite, let alone a wallpaper

I'd urge people to take their time choosing to vote, there's enough stuff here to warrant a lot of consideration. And check them out full-size too, there's a good bit of detail hiding in some of these...

A fair number of posted screenshots haven't made it up here because it was unclear if they were WIP or not, or they didn't seem finished or appropriate for the theme (yes, that includes Alyx giving the G-Man head ) It's a real shame not to include people's work, especially in the case of newer members (I'm really sorry, guys), so I have to urge entrants to please always mark posts with images in as WIP or Final. If you change your mind, please edit your posts to explicitly state which images are which.

Well done to everyone, and Jest@ for organising a quality theme. It took me a long time to pick a vote, I nearly went for AlphaKennyOne (your last shot conveyed unease brilliantly) but in the end I had to give my vote to PaulH.

I went with Protostar's. All the other entries were rather obvious. An exploding city, a train in a warehouse, blood smeared on shower curtains. None of those required imagination, what was out of place was immediately apparent.

None of them creeped the shit out of you, I felt, except Protostar's.

PaulH, your entry was outstanding from the design point of view, but I didn't feel they fit the theme very well.

PaulH! What have you done! That is the most incredible thing I've seen in a long time! It looks so real!

AlphaKenny's entry was a nice one too; I love the blood on the wall and the hunter in the background. And kudos to Mr. Happy for making the weirdest scene ever in Source;)

But all in all I had to vote for PaulH. How the fuck he's able to make something like that is beyond me.. Anyways, good job everyone, some really cool stuff here:)

EDIT: Woot, just noticed: In the background of PaulH's first image, there's a plane dropping something! It's tha bomb plane!!!
