Map Battle 25 'Something's Not Right' - Vote & Final Images

I'm a big fan of The Maker's entry - while this sounds cheesy, it tells a story - you can tell by looking at instantly what has happened immediately before, and if you look closely, you'll see what happens next... Plus it's just gorgeous and has great atmosphere

I gotta tell ya, this was one tooooough choice to make, but I had to go with PaulH's entry. Everybody did a great job, and I had lots of fun with this one, especially being my first attempt at a map battle. Hopefully I can do it again when i'm not busy with other projects!

crem de la cremator! i almost didn't want to give you my vote because is't just too good.
the theme is to the point and risky, the brush work inspiring and the light stunning... so how could i not vote for it, it just wouldn't be fare

I went with Mr. Happy because it's one of the wackiest entry I've ever seen

I'm torn between Mr. Happy, Kremator, and Protostar... Honestly I can't decide who to vote for, I just can't! They're all so awesome.

Mr. Happy's is just fantastic, funny, and definitely not right.

Kremator's is disturbing, the lighting is beautiful, and it makes me think of David Lynch.

Protostar's entry is the only one that actually made me uncomfortable. That box at the end on the hallway just looks evil. It wants to kill me, I know it! Just about everything in this scene makes me uncomfortable, actually. That's why I've just decided to give Proto-awesome my vote.

Those weren't the only entries I liked though, I liked pretty much all of them, they were just the only one's that I both liked and though fit in with the "Something's Not Right..." theme. Everyone who made an entry gets kudos from me, since I never even got around to finishing mine.

i voted for paul H, a damn good urban scene if i ever saw one. I would vote for cremator, but to be fair, he is in another league.

wow there are so many great maps here I'm so torn! This has to be the hardest map battle to vote on ever.


Congrats to Cremator, DeathMonkey, Dark Soul, Mak, PaulH and Protostar because I can't vote for all of you...

But it has to be... Protostar. what!?

Other maps where technically better, but there wasn't much subtlety involved, and I think his really fits the bill, reminding me off the Matrix and FEAR.

I did notice that, but I don't think an exploding city says "something's not right". Maybe if you posted only the first image, but not the second?

I guess I'm just going on about a lack of subtlety.

Well i know what you mean, but think of it from my position..how could i have just posted the first image without the second, when i made both?... i explained when i posted it that the 'somethings not right' is in image 1 and the aftermath is in image 2

Oh and also since when does an exploding city not mean something isn't right

Well, you did submit both, so I based my decision off of your complete entry.

And even so, the box at the end of the hallway is so much more disturbing to me than a plane in the background.

Wow, lots of GREAT entries in this one. But, wow, who could I go with? Honeslty, I would vote for that "number 00 dylan" guy, I know him very personally, and if I didn't support him he would kill me. (I'm voting mr.Happy, but voting for me wouldnt hurt either...)

I.... I don't see a black square..... anyone else see a black square? I think it may be part of the cloud.... the cloud fades from bright glowying red to black from the inside out, but other than that i see no square.

Are you sure you don't see it? If you're looking at the window facing the viewer, its right on the area of wall between the middle of the window and the left part of the forked windowframe.
