Ahhhh, the Christmas banner image is up, the Santa hats are creeping back onto the avatars, and everyone's hoping for new games in their stockings
That's right, it's
Christmas!
the Winter-een-mas warmup! But of course, only doing Christmas is just
soo 20th Century. I know there are plenty of you funny heathen types out there who don't believe in gorging yourself while getting angry with your family for buying crap you don't need or want. You terrorists. As a seasonally-appropriate gift to all you hippies, I'll widen this theme to include other winter holiday themes, like
New Year,
Winter Solstice,
Hanukah etc.
Bonus points for anyone who PMs me the regular expression for different spellings of Hanukah! So, this should keep some of you dangerous kids occupied over the holiday. When family/shopping/eating/travelling overwhelm you, get mapping! Cozy fireside scenes, wintry landscapes and fairy lights, the New Year's countdown, Santa's suspiciously combine-like fortress, or Red & Blu fighting for control of the 'Christmas Tree' cap point....have fun!
We'll bring this one to a close at the end of
New Years' Day, just as you're recovering
I'd advise having your images ready in advance! Remember, 'End of the Day' means GMT; check
here to see it in other time zones.
All the usual rules apply; 3 screenshots from a Valve source engine game, posted in this thread. You can post as many times as you like, but please always note whether your images are final or WIP. For the full rules, check
here.
As always, if you've got any questions or comments at all, post below or
PM meCongratulations to
Srredfire for a strong win in
Map Battle 29, and to all the rest who took part! I'd also like to welcome the new design section
slave moderator,
904, who will be helping me keep my promises
EDIT: Dang, didn't notice that Srredfire's one-upped me on the old Christmas Cheer! For those of you who want a slightly less cheesy theme and a chance at a free game, check out the
2nd Annual Srredfire Xmas mapping contest in the General Discussion forum
