I've always heard that the apple was actually a fig. I'm so glad the world can agree on this small and fairly irrelevant detail. But hey, that's how new religions start.

Thought I'd get this thread back on track by posting an in-editor WIP shot.

Haven't textured yet because I have no clue what to use.

You always have the most advanced brushwork Doctor. If you find out the right textures that's gonna be a real nice entry.

Make the interior supports shiny metal, thicken the exterior walls and texture them some sort of stone. That way, you get some sort of "the new supporting the old" theme going on. Tradition is a sort of eden for some people, right?

Aslo, I'm kind amazed that nobody's approached EDEN as an acronym yet: why not Electronic Dogs Equipping Neophytes (hallucinogenic drugs, a cyberpunk dystopia, and a revolution involving newbs)?
Every Dang Ethopian kNows (it's all a giant conspiracy)?
Each Dagger Eventually Neutralizes (medieval assassins doing what they do best)?
Elephants Don't Ever Nestle (well, have you ever seen an elephant building a nest?)?
Even Delta Egresses Normally (aircraft taking off - on time*)?
Engage Dem Everest Nigs! (gang warfare set in the mountains of Nepal)?
Eccentric Demoman Evicerates Newbs (this is an easy one)?

*fly Delta out of ATL and this will be funny to you.
i had fun once, and it was awful.

Incredibly logical brushwork, I must say.
It looks difficult but if you start looking at how it's done then it's quite simple. Nice work.

Compiling that without any func_details would be murder. I'd never let anybody do that to vvis, it would quite simply be cruel.

Though of course you will make good use of the blessing that is func_detail, I'd like to see that in game with some nice textures too.

LOL?

EDIT: Here's a small update on my submission:

Image

I want to make the area behind the gate contrast with the rest of the scene to give it a focal point. It all sort of blends in currently. The gate might also be a bit too bulky, but I might be able to make it work out in the end.

Next update will have color correction :D

Slight changes here and there, and I added color correction for contrast. I'm going to be updating the shadows to look better, and I'll probably work on the color correction some more.

Progress has been slow, and I've come to the realisation that I'll need to make some custom, clean metal textures. Everything is HL2, CSS, and Portal is too scungy. I still have the entrance to complete, the textures, the lighting, and some minor special effects to add.
