Those are some wicked grass sprites, mind me asking where they're from? Drop me a PM!

In any case a very nice map, though it could benefit from a custom skybox - and work on that atmosphere! It'll make or break it

I am totally destroying that by doing Dance of Death by Iron Maiden ;)

Similar theme, slightly more evil. Muaha.Ha. Ha....

Nah, I've got about 5 different songs I want to do and haven't even started yet O.O

It's the thought that counts. I thought it was beautifully illustrated. It's already got my vote.

Here's a new screen with the bridge I'm working on...

Nice! <3 Maiden. Go nuts man, I'd love to see that! My buddy was trying to get me to do Angel Of Death by Slayer. I kinda wanna try it as well, just to see if I can. Heh.

Thanks, man! Atmosphere is certainly going to be key here. I have no clue how to make my own skyboxes yet, so that's out for the time being. I did change it to one I like better, though. I'm working w/ the Left 4 Dead SDK, which only has 4 stock skyboxes. Ugh. Anyway, I'm kinda new at all this, so maybe it's time to try making my own. So much to learn...

As for the grass sprites, the texture is blenddirtlawn01 and the Detail Material File from Map Properties is detail/ruraldetailsprites. Hope that helps...?

Cheers!

Then I shall. Going to require quite a bit of modelling though.

By the way, if you're going for a Celtic theme I'd like to give you a few pointers:-

1) The chapel is Christian, not Celtic ;) so depends what time your setting is. If you're going for fairly recent then it works - it is a Celtic Christian looking building.
2) You need to basically spam your graveyard with Irish crosses - the ones with the circle around them. Never understood the design seems kinda stupid to me, but hey, so does a cross in the first place.
3) Mountains in the background
4) Holly and mistletoe would work well.
5) Rain. Can't think of a single celtic country where it doesn't piss it down almost 24-7. If it's Ireland also add thick fog that hides the top of the mountains.

Reckon that's about it ;)

EDIT: CHALLENGE: Anyone who can map the song "The Hedgehog Can Never Be Buggered At All / Il Porcupino Nil Sodomy Est" will automatically win my vote. :-D :smt023

Hey! Good luck w/ the Maiden thing, I think it's great! To your points about all things Celtic:

1) Yup, the chapel is Christian, and yup, the time setting is recent, within the last 200 years or so at least. It was going to be older until I added those lamps that could either be gas or electric...? In any case, it isn't out of the ordinary for religions to build close to the sites of older religions they're taking over from. Helps to convert the masses, so it seems.
2) Don't know how to model yet, only been doing this 6 months, so I'm stuck with the graves that come stock with L4D. I guess I could look elsewhere for models, but in all honesty, I haven't tried getting other models into the game yet either... Lol.
***EDIT: The Celtic cross comes from an ancient symbol that was carved into many standing stones, etc. It consisted of a circle divided into 4 by 2 lines. When the Christians came along, just like building beside/over other religions, they also appropriated their symbology. So basically the extended the lines and made one even longer so that it became a traditional Christian cross with a circle. I don't believe any of this crap, personally, but hey...***
3) Already adding hills, and the 3d skybox will sort of stretch up into the distance. As long as everything goes according to plan...
4) See 2 above!
5) Yeah I kinda like the idea of rain, too, but the whole thing about this is the bonfires that are lit on All Souls Night, and rain would kinda f*** that up... :D

Thanks for the input! I'm gonna post another screen or two soon...

Here's that new screenshot. I took it from basically the same angle as the last one so changes are more obvious... :D

Garrysmod.org is a great website to check for random custom models and shit. The Gmod community is practically hyperactive when it comes to creating custom content like this.

Anyway, I don't know how good that model actually is. For a scene like this you would probably want a detailed one. I suppose if it doesn't have something such as phong shading, you could slap some of that in the VMT and it should look nicer in your map. Only if you do it properly, though.

PS: Your spelling of "acoustic" is correct.
